FSP Associate Scientist: Pharmaceutics, Solid Dosage Preparation

Thermo Fisher Scientific•South San Francisco, CA
•$30 - $34

About The Position

The Associate Scientist will prepare solid dosage formulations, including blends, tablets, and capsules, independently or in collaboration with internal scientists in development and pilot plant laboratories. The role performs characterization of drug substances, excipients, intermediates, and finished formulations to assess material attributes and performance. Analyses include powder flow, bulk and tapped density, particle size distribution, compaction properties, tablet hardness and tensile strength, solid fraction, friability, disintegration, and solubility. The scientist reviews experimental data, identifies trends, and proposes hypothesis-driven follow-up experiments. The role requires documenting research in an electronic lab notebook according to departmental guidelines, complying with environmental health and safety requirements, completing required training, and communicating findings and technical recommendations to cross-functional teams in the Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutics group. Work takes place in a laboratory and/or clinical environment. Conditions may include exposure to electrical office equipment, biological fluids and infectious organisms, and rare exposure to irritants, radiation, toxic materials, hazardous waste, or extreme temperatures. Required PPE includes protective eyewear, garments, and gloves. Occasional site drives and domestic travel may be required.
