This specific position is for an Associate Scientist to join the growing Biology Department at their Madison site, offering an opportunity to utilize and advance laboratory skills in a progressive, state-of-the-art facility.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
- 2 years of experience in a biology lab or research lab environment
- Experience with immunoassays (e.g. ELISA, immunoprecipitation, immunoblot)
- Hands-on experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as RNA and protein isolation, qPCR, as well as cell culture and transfection proficiency
- Demonstrated innovation, creativity and resilience in problem solving
- Data collection, analysis, and detailed record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary environment
- Ability to take direction, follow protocols and produce and communicate results
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk/lab workstation
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
- Ability to navigate various locations and settings of the company
- Wear personal protective equipment in laboratories and other areas as required
Nice To Haves
- Biotech or pharma industry experience
- Experience handling tissue samples
- Working knowledge of LC- or GC-MS is a plus
- Experience with protein expression and systems
Responsibilities
- Conduct in vitro studies to facilitate protein assay development in support of drug discovery in various diseases
- Perform protein expression assays as well as functional analysis by various methods
- Develop and implement novel protein expression and enzyme activity assays for target validation
- Perform recombinant protein expression and purification
- Prepare and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks and appropriate data files
- Read and apply relevant scientific literature to projects to troubleshoot and solve problems
- Present research findings to project teams and prepare technical reports
- Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab and perform critical experiments
