About The Position

The Associate Scientific Director plays a critical role in leading the development of high-quality, scientifically accurate content for our medical education, communications, and custom content initiatives. In this role, you’ll collaborate with internal teams, external clients, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to create engaging scientific materials that align with client objectives and industry standards. You will also provide scientific oversight to ensure accuracy, balance, and compliance across deliverables. This is more than writing and reviewing — it’s about shaping the scientific vision of projects, guiding content strategy, and maintaining the highest standards of medical and scientific integrity.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in a life science or medical discipline required
  • 3–5 years of experience in medical communications, scientific writing, or related field
  • Proven track record of developing and reviewing scientific content for various formats
  • Experience working with KOLs, advisory boards, and client teams
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize complex scientific data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Lead scientific content development: Oversee the creation of medical and scientific content for print, digital, and live formats, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Collaborate with experts: Partner with KOLs, advisory boards, and subject matter experts to develop credible, evidence-based materials.
  • Ensure compliance: Review content for scientific accuracy, fair balance, and adherence to client, regulatory, and industry guidelines.
  • Support client relationships: Participate in client meetings, present scientific strategies, and address scientific questions.
  • Guide editorial strategy: Work closely with project managers, medical writers, and designers to ensure cohesive, impactful deliverables.
  • Mentor team members: Provide scientific guidance and feedback to writers and junior staff.
  • Stay current: Monitor and analyze scientific literature, clinical trial data, and therapeutic area developments to inform content.
  • Participate in business development: Assist in developing proposals, capabilities presentations, and scientific strategy documents for new business opportunities.
