Associate Sales Representative - Group Benefits (Nashville, TN)

Principal Financial Group•Brentwood, TN

About The Position

Principal Financial Group is a global financial services company focused on insurance, retirement, and asset management. Its Sales Development Program is a 9–18 month, full-time salaried program within the US Life Insurance–Group Benefits division, designed to prepare participants for careers in sales. Associate Sales Representatives learn to partner with brokers to provide insurance solutions—including disability, accident, critical illness, and life insurance—to businesses and their employees and families. The program begins at a national training center with intensive classroom study and opportunities to learn from senior sales leaders. Participants then receive an assigned territory and on-the-job training from local sales leaders and mentors. Toward the end of the 18-month program, participants begin building their own book of business. The company provides study time and educational materials to help secure an insurance license. After successful completion, the role is responsible for sales growth and market expansion in an assigned regional territory. Earning potential then depends on successful sales volume. Ongoing professional development, including conferences and training, is available through the sales community. The position requires travel within the assigned territory as needed.
