About The Position

Silvus Technologies, a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, is seeking an Associate Research and Development (R&D) Test Engineer to join their R&D team. This role involves developing testing infrastructure, performing comprehensive testing, vetting, and demonstration of Silvus’ MANET radios and other wireless products. The position is fully onsite in West Los Angeles and requires occasional domestic travel for experimentation and demonstrations. The engineer will work on wireless communication system test operations, assist in maintaining and designing testing software for automation, and collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to understand performance requirements and troubleshoot new designs. Lab testing using wireless channel emulators and field testing will be integral parts of the role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of experience in electronics work environment; OR an Associate degree with 1 year of experience; OR a Bachelor or higher degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Familiarity and experience working with testing embedded systems.
  • Exposure to the use of radio frequency instruments such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and channel emulators.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in programming using C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Exposure to networked testing systems.
  • Experience in testing embedded radio communication systems.
  • General understanding of working in both Windows and Linux operations.

Responsibilities

  • Wireless communication system test operation, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Assist in the maintenance, design, and implementation of testing software for automated testing and logging.
  • Work closely with the R&D and Engineering teams to understand performance requirements and expected system behaviors, validate and assist in troubleshooting and qualification of new designs.
  • Conduct lab testing using wireless channel emulators and other instruments.
  • Conduct field testing to qualify system performance in a practical environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
