This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Associate, Repair & Maintenance Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for applying technical knowledge to support maintenance programs for facilities and equipment. You will coordinate maintenance work, review specifications, and participate in equipment installation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 3 Years of Relevant Experience

Nice To Haves

  • CNC machining experience
  • Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent)
  • Experience with CMMS (e.g., Maximo)
  • On‑call or shift work may be required

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
  • Machine parts to required tolerances, finishes, and dimensions.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tooling, speeds, and feeds as required.
  • Lay out, cut, form, and assemble metal components using hand and power tools.
  • Perform welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick (as required).
  • Fabricate frames, brackets, guards, fixtures, platforms, and structural components.
  • Repair damaged equipment and modify existing structures to improve reliability and safety.
  • Ensure weld quality meets applicable standards and specifications.
  • Support emergency breakdown repairs and improvement work.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment and tools.
