About The Position

This role is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to key players within the organization on performance management, employment law, and termination matters. The individual will also be knowledgeable concerning applicable legislation. They will guide Associate Relations issues and matters for all positions across multiple provinces within the organization to support an appropriate and friendly Fit4Less workplace environment for all Associates.

Requirements

  • Some college or university in Human Resources (HR) field
  • 1+ years in Employee Relations and/or HR role
  • Working toward CHRP or equivalent
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate listening and written skills
  • Verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate ability to consistently keep information confidential
  • Be up to date and knowledgeable about employment legislation, codes, standards, current best practices and human resources trends across Canada

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Workplace Investigations to determine whether the accused has indeed committed an action of workplace harassment or discrimination or fraud/theft.
  • Conducts workplace investigations into complaints of harassment, bullying, sexual harassment, discrimination, and fraud/theft
  • Analyzes investigation findings, evaluates risk and provides recommendations for remedial measures to management and senior leaders based on legislative standards and risk.
  • Supports, advises and guides managers and senior leaders on performance management, leaves of absence, employment concerns, workplace accommodations, expectations, investigation outcomes, and attendance management to facilitate a productive and appropriate workplace environment for all associates.
  • Advises Managers on disciplinary and/or termination situations.
  • Advises and counsels managers and senior leaders on Fit4Less’ internal policies and Employment Standards Act legislation interpretation, including proper administration for all provinces.
  • Prepares investigation files, interprets contracts and agreements, assists with preparation for settlement, investigations, and attend related meetings.
  • Designs and facilitates seminars/presentations, and conference calls for management levels on various Human Resource and employment law topics such as the Employment Standards Act, the importance of enforceable contracts, performance management and terminations.
  • Supports and guides Associates to support matters related to people experience, associate relations and sensitive questions that need to be discussed with an impartial party.
  • Produces and administers tasks and documentation to fulfill standard practices.
  • Creates and reviews current processes working closely with the People Experience Senior Manager to find gaps and opportunities within the scope of People Experience matters.
