PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assist Regional Director in planning, developing and implementing advocacy initiatives, program activities and services in the community to advance ADL’s mission within North Texas and Oklahoma. This includes but is not limited to community outreach, communications, incident response, Jewish community engagement, law enforcement engagement, public-facing programming, and young leadership development. Collaborate with all West Division team members to support the execution of regional programming. Assist the Regional Director in relevant budget preparation, office management, staff development and supervision where appropriate. It is estimated that this role will have a 70%-time allocation to North Texas and Oklahoma, and a 30% allocation to supporting statewide advocacy across Texas and Oklahoma.

  • Between five and six years of progressively responsible community outreach experience, including program and operational management.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus additional related college courses or professional training required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Experience in public policy or advocacy related to bias, bigotry, racism or antisemitism strongly preferred.
  • Experience in working with Jewish communal organizations, legal, legislative/government relations, civil rights advocacy, also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support team in implementing ADL programs and projects, identifying opportunities to respond to the environment or proactively drive mission-based conversations.
  • Work with programmatic staff to achieve the goals outlined in the region’s operating plan and implement ADL’s strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Policy and division team on planning and execution of state-based legislation and local government initiatives.
  • Identify and build organizational partnerships in key advocacy spaces.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of advocacy initiatives across the region.
  • Support staff and the programs for which they are responsible.
  • Assist in relevant budget preparations.
  • Respond to and resolve the most complex or sensitive complaints of discrimination, antisemitic incidents and other civil rights issues.
  • Coordinate with Policy Counsel as appropriate.
  • Ensure that required reports are maintained.
  • Work with Regional Director to develop and implement community outreach including initiatives and joint ventures with elected leaders and diverse interfaith and cross-cultural organizations active within the region.
  • Represent ADL and present in a variety of forums to promote public awareness of ADL’s mission.
  • Organize Regional Board meetings and engagement programs.
  • Serve as the region’s staff lead on Board Engagement, including the planning and execution of Regional Board meetings, engagement programs, and working with the Regional Director and Development Team to develop strategies to manage relationships with volunteer leaders.
  • Undertake special projects and cross-regional assignments as needed.
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of the regional office in the absence of the Regional Director.
  • Help oversee assigned interns and the programs for which they are responsible.
