About The Position

The Associate Regional Director (ARD) represents the regional office in carrying out its functions to ensure good Young Life ministry in the Southcoast region. This role involves upholding all Young Life policies and procedures while focusing on spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The ARD will assist the Regional Director in casting vision, developing diverse leadership and ministries, recruiting and supervising staff, and implementing regional trainings. They will also play a key role in fundraising, donor relations, and coordinating quality events. The position requires maintaining ministry contact with youth, supporting the development of new areas, and ensuring Young Life ministry is carried out with excellence. Additionally, the ARD will manage administrative tasks, maintain professionalism, develop strategic ministry plans, and accept project assignments. The Southcoast region covers San Diego, Orange, and Riverside Counties, with a goal to build on the existing culture and influence Young Life in each county.

Requirements

  • Completion of Core Training — Phase One

Responsibilities

  • Represent the regional office in carrying out the regional function to ensure good Young Life ministry in that region.
  • Uphold all Young Life policies and procedures.
  • Foster spiritual development through prayer, fellowship, growth, and church relationships.
  • Develop and implement a yearly personal growth plan for a vibrant spiritual life.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Ensure all Young Life ministry in the region is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer.
  • Assist the regional director in casting vision for reaching every kid within the region.
  • Assist the regional director in developing diverse leadership and ministries.
  • Work with the regional director to recruit, interview, hire, and place staff within the region.
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate staff, providing necessary resources and experiences.
  • Facilitate departures when necessary and as assigned.
  • Assist the regional director in the development and implementation of regional trainings.
  • Conduct assignments or events as assigned by the regional director, including leadership weekends, recruiting days, staff development, and leader training.
  • Help areas develop committees and communicate regularly with committee and TDS chairs.
  • Help develop and lead the region’s fundraising strategy, ensuring excellence in communication to donors.
  • Raise the necessary funds to carry out the regional ministry vision with the Regional Director.
  • Ensure a TDS plan is implemented and reviewed for each area under direct supervision.
  • Raise a portion of the personal budget as agreed upon with the RD.
  • Work with Development staff to identify potential donors for missionwide efforts.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality events that reflect Young Life’s capacity to impact kids.
  • Work with the area committee to develop good community and church relationships.
  • Recruit, develop, encourage, and sustain a diverse regional committee.
  • Assist in the development of new areas and identify interested adults to help the ministry grow.
  • Visit areas as needed or assigned, including routine and emergency crisis visits.
  • Observe and evaluate local areas to ensure Young Life ministry is carried out with excellence.
  • Assist the RD to ensure a regional plan is in place to grow Young Life in the region, including multi-cultural and specialized ministries.
  • Maintain ministry contact with kids to the extent necessary to be effective in this role.
  • Provide networking opportunities for additional camping and discipleship experiences.
  • Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Develop an appropriate system for reporting, expense report responsibilities, and the use of regional funds.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plan growth and initiatives, and review them regularly.
  • Implement and support regional initiatives, such as student staff, program, multi-cultural advance, and Forward.
  • Accept both short and long-term assignments of projects.
  • Support local ministries and own several regional initiatives.
  • Be a key partner in vision casting and developing strong culture.
  • Enable partnership with the Regional Leadership Team.
  • Partner with RD and Development Director to identify new regional donors and board members.
  • Lead volunteer recruitment initiatives.
  • Own annual events/experiences such as staff retreat, weekend camps, leader and committee summit.
  • Oversee and manage staff in all parts of the region.
