About The Position

Under general direction from the Service Manager and/or Supervisors, responsible for the profitable execution of assigned small-dollar Fire and/or Sprinkler Service Projects. Works with Sales and Operations Leadership and other teams, as needed, to provide sales support activities early in the project development process and provide input on strategy, vendor/partner selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, risk assessment, etc. Provides work direction to project execution teams that may include Engineers, Designers, Technicians, Project Coordinators, and Subcontractors to ensure that assigned projects are completed accurately, on time, billed appropriately, within budget, and within the scope of the contract. Responsible for maintaining positive cash flow and actively pursuing change orders. Responsible for following consistent and repeatable project management procedures and processes. Maintains an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results. Helps drive Service revenue for the fiscal period by ensuring the continual flow of all service-related work (open service work orders). Provides assistance to Coordinators and Supervisors for any missing information required to close out Service Requests.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of direct field experience in the building construction or electrical project industry, ideally with Fire Alarm or Sprinkler industry experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical material, both verbally and nonverbally, to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in project management software and financial accounting systems.
  • Experience working with MS Project, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat/Writer, Visio, and a basic Windows environment.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen due to the requirement for a Secret-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Profitable execution of assigned small-dollar Fire and/or Sprinkler Service Projects.
  • Provide sales support activities and input on strategy, vendor/partner selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, and risk assessment.
  • Provide work direction to project execution teams to ensure accurate, on-time, and within-budget project completion.
  • Maintain positive cash flow and actively pursue change orders.
  • Follow consistent project management procedures and processes.

  • Assist Coordinators and Supervisors with information required to close out Service Requests.
  • Ensure Johnson Controls resources and subcontractor/vendor resources adhere to site or JCI safety policies.
  • Manage scope, costs, resources, and risks on assigned projects.
  • Act as the primary on-site leader for execution teams.
  • Develop Project Execution Plans.
  • Evaluate contractual scope of work and impact of client-issued instructions/notices, field directives, and/or project schedule changes.
  • Actively pursue change orders for changes and additional opportunities.
  • Assist Sales Representatives with associated cost estimates, prepare proposals, and negotiate final settlement prices.
  • Manage project-related accounts payable, billing, and collections.
  • Complete project billing in a timely and accurate manner to maintain positive cash flow.
  • Review and interpret contract Terms and Conditions.
  • Analyze financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems.
  • Communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management.
  • Manage risks and establish project recovery plans.
  • Resolve disputes with minimal need for escalation.
  • Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements and JCI standards.
  • Oversee project progress to ensure compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques.
  • Manage the selection, ordering, and delivery schedules of materials.
  • Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Attend job progress meetings as required.
  • Ensure subcontractors understand project expectations.
  • Coordinate with the Service Manager, Service/Sprinkler Supervisors, and/or Installation Project Managers regarding resource allocation.
  • Ensure engineering and commissioning performed by the field team are in accordance with established standards.
  • Facilitate escalation of product-related problems.
  • Assist the Service Manager and/or Sales team in project development efforts.
  • Provide feedback on the performance of Engineers and Designers.
