About The Position

Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for a tenured associate professor in the Department of Biology, College of Arts and Sciences, specializing in RNA Science and Technology. This position is part of the Faculty 100 strategic initiative, seeking candidates who employ innovative experimental and computational methods to study, visualize, or therapeutically target RNA and RNA machines. While all areas of RNA biology are considered, preference will be given to scholars whose research aligns with IUB's existing strengths in structural biology, virology, genomics, computational biology, RNA regulation and modification, and synthetic biology. The university fosters a highly collaborative environment for RNA research and encourages interdisciplinary approaches. Researchers will have access to state-of-the-art facilities for genomics, microscopy, physical biochemistry, structural biology (cryo-electron and crystallography), and high-performance computing. The appointment is for 10 months, ideally starting August 1, 2027, with a negotiable start date.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree.
  • Strong record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the level of appointment.
  • For associate professor level: sustained record of scholarly achievement commensurate with a tenured appointment.
  • Record of extramurally funded research as principal investigator.
  • Established body of corresponding-author publications.
  • Evidence of visibility and engagement within the broader scholarly community.
  • Experience leading substantial research initiatives.
