About The Position

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health (SOPH) is inviting applications for a full-time open tenure faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This role involves 12-month appointments with rank and tenure status commensurate with qualifications. The department is seeking applicants with research programs in high-priority funding areas such as aging (e.g., brain health), infectious diseases (e.g., HIV/AIDS), and other chronic disease and disability outcomes (e.g., multimorbidity, musculoskeletal conditions, cancer). Applicants whose research programs complement and expand upon the department's existing strengths in cardiovascular diseases and genomics/omics are also highly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • A strong record of extramural funding as a principal investigator and co-investigator.
  • Experience in teaching graduate- or undergraduate-level epidemiology courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary, collaborative academic setting.
  • A PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree.
  • Graduate-level training in epidemiology or a closely related field.
