The Department of Urologic Sciences at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor, grant tenure. The Department of Urologic Sciences (DUS), part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine, was founded on July 1, 2006. The DUS strives to develop and deliver programs of excellence in key areas of urology. With a robust and active clinical faculty, the Department is a leader in education, clinical care and research. Reporting to the Head of the UBC Department of Urologic Sciences, the successful candidate will lead a research program focused on aging, metabolism, and development of innovative three-dimensional (3D) models of urologic cancers using fresh human tissue, including organoid and stem/progenitor cell-driven approaches. The ideal candidate will also bring recognized expertise in metabolomics to complement these research areas. These models will be used to investigate disease progression, treatment resistance, and enable large-scale drug testing. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching activities of the Department, as well as provide mentorship and training to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate learners. The incumbent will also be expected to provide service to the University and the broader academic and professional community. They will work collaboratively in diverse groups to bring forward strategic initiatives for the Department and the Faculty.
