The Radiation Oncology Associate Professor will treat cancer and other diseases using targeted high-energy radiation therapy. This position involves evaluating patients, determining the appropriateness of radiation therapy, reviewing imaging and lab data, and determining tumor stage. The role includes performing physical examinations, reviewing medical histories, and interpreting diagnostic tests to assess candidacy for radiation therapy. Treatment planning using sophisticated software to design personalized treatment plans, including dosage, angle, and techniques (e.g., IGRT, IMRT, proton therapy), is a key responsibility. The Associate Professor will oversee the safe delivery of treatment by radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and physicists, manage side effects, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with medical oncologists and surgeons. Participation in clinical research and guiding complex care teams are also integral parts of the role.
