About The Position

The Doctorate of Educational Leadership Program at Merrimack College is seeking an open-rank, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty member to begin in Fall 2026. This position requires an earned doctorate in education or a related field, along with experience as a graduate faculty member and a leader in a P-12 educational context. The faculty member will teach 5 courses across fall, spring, and summer semesters, serve as an academic advisor, sit on dissertation committees, participate in four annual residencies, and contribute to the EdD program, the School of Education and Social Policy, and Merrimack College. The EdD program is designed for experienced professionals, focusing on transformative leadership in a flexible, online format with three concentrations. Teaching is primarily asynchronous online, with up to four hours of synchronous virtual instruction per course. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, mentoring, supervision of graduate students, attending faculty meetings, participating in residencies, and other duties assigned by the Program Director and Dean.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) from an accredited institution, preferably in education or related social science.
• Minimum of three years of experience in graduate-level course development and instruction in a remote and/or hybrid environment.
• Documentation of successful teaching practices and positive student assessment of teaching.
• Strong understanding of doctoral pedagogy, specific to the development of scholar practitioners in education (K-16) and/or human services.
• Experience teaching at the graduate level.
• Experience serving as chairs or committee members for dissertation committees.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to teach a range of courses in the EdD curriculum, including leadership courses, professional seminars, research methods, and electives.

Responsibilities

• Teaching a total of 5 courses across fall, spring, and summer semesters.
• Serving as an academic advisor.
• Serving on dissertation committees.
• Participating in four residencies annually.
• Actively contributing to the EdD program, the School of Education and Social Policy, and Merrimack College.
• Providing formal online teaching.
• Effective delivery of instructional material and course management (e.g., assessments, grading).
• Advising, mentoring, and supervision of graduate students.
• Attending faculty meetings.
• Participating actively in both on-campus and virtual residencies.
• Completing other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director and Dean.
