About The Position

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Galveston, Texas, is seeking an Associate Professor for its Department of Family Medicine. UTMB Health is a comprehensive health science center with multiple hospitals, clinics, and schools, dedicated to advancing health sciences education, research, and patient care. The Department of Family Medicine provides medical care through three clinics and an inpatient service, with programs in medical student education, residency, faculty development, and research. This position is primarily clinical (90%) with a focus on patient care and teaching/supervision of Family Medicine residents. The faculty member will practice primarily at the Island West Clinic but may rotate through other clinics as needed. The role involves providing comprehensive health care within a patient-centered medical home model.

Requirements

MD or DO degree
A strong commitment to research, patient care, medical student, and resident education.
U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or higher level.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in clinic settings, primarily at Galveston Island locations.
Provide teaching and supervision of Family Medicine residents.
Share on-call responsibilities, including evening and weekend hours.
Precept medical students.
Cover other clinical services as needed.
Provide comprehensive health care with enhanced access for patients within a patient-centered medical home clinical model.
Practice primarily at the Island West Clinic, with rotations through Island West (IE) or Dickinson Family Medicine Clinics as departmental need arises.
