About The Position

Toast is seeking an Associate Product Manager to join its Enterprise Data Solutions team. The team works to deliver a trusted, scalable, and governed data foundation so teams can make decisions with speed and confidence. The role contributes to the operational execution and strategic evolution of Toast’s Enterprise Data Governance Program, helping ensure data is trustworthy, compliant, and discoverable as the company expands its AI and data capabilities.

The position supports governance measurement, council sessions, business glossary ownership, metadata standards and automation, governance documentation and training, research into data management and AI governance practices, and monitoring of governance and data quality. It also collaborates with Engineering, Analytics, Legal, and other partners to translate business definitions into technical metadata specifications.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional experience in data governance, data management, product management, or analytics.
• Proven experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake and dbt, and data catalogs such as DataHub, Alation, or Atlan, focused on enterprise metadata and stewardship deployments.
• Demonstrated ability to implement data governance frameworks, business glossaries, and data domain models for core enterprise applications.
• Solid understanding of industry standards and best practices in data management, metrics standardization, and metadata curation.
• Experience with SQL for governance reporting, analytics, and data quality analysis.
• Excellent analytical and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex governance policies and lead cross-functional workshops for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification or active coursework toward certification.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, or CCPA, or data management frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK.
• Experience with adjacent tools and frameworks such as data observability platforms (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations) or AI governance models.
• Prior experience in B2B SaaS, restaurant technology, or a fast-paced product company.

Responsibilities

• Stand up dashboards to monitor adherence to data requirements across the organization.
• Support facilitation of Data Governance Council working sessions and act as a subject matter expert for the enterprise Business Glossary.
• Partner with the data catalog team to streamline metadata standards and automate data discovery across business platforms and analytics tools.
• Develop governance documentation, stewardship training materials, and standard operating procedures to support consistent practices across domains.
• Research emerging data management frameworks and AI governance best practices to enhance enterprise data policies.
• Own governance dashboards, proactive compliance monitoring, and data quality tracking to maintain the reliability of the data foundation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Engineering, Analytics, and Legal, to translate business definitions into technical metadata specifications.
