Part Time Associate Producer
About The Position
WJAR, Southern New England's News Leader and one of America’s most-watched television stations, has a rare opportunity to help produce a live, daily news-talk program on television. This show is driven by a dynamic host covering current events and compelling topics and includes guests and interaction with our viewers. The ideal candidate will follow the news closely in Southern New England and nationally, be flexible and work quickly. This is a part-time position with the possibility for advancement. Previous experience in a newsroom and/or with a live program are required. Guest booking, research, editing, writing and social media management are some of the responsibilities in this position.
Requirements
- The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to write quality broadcast news copy under tight deadlines
- Strong writing and news judgment skills
- A 4-year degree in Journalism or Mass Communications
- Available to work all shifts including weekdays, evenings, overnight, weekends, and some holidays
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Avid editing software a plus
Responsibilities
- Writing copy for newscasts
- Editing video for newscasts
- Posting stories online and to social media
- Operating teleprompter during newscasts
- Assisting Producers with finding stories
- Assisting with other editorial duties as assigned
