About The Position

CBC Manitoba is looking for an Associate Producer assigned to our live streaming and supper hour television programming. As we know, audiences continue to evolve in how, where and when they engage with our content. We know now more than ever how important visual storytelling is for our journalism to reach current and new audiences to ensure we stay relevant to Manitobans and Canadians. We need to be live when audiences need us and on demand when audiences want us. The successful candidate will be responsible for proposing original story ideas, developing program content, organizing interviews, video editing, conducting research, and helping bring live programming to audiences. With appropriate direction, this position will help organize and contribute to the preparation, production, post-production work for live and on demand video and television programming. While work is generally performed following established standards and procedures, there is a regular requirement for independent judgment and initiative. Tasks can sometimes involve coordinating the activities of others. This role may be for you if you have a keen eye and a passion for paying attention to details. You have a strong sense of visual elements beyond traditional videos, such as infographics, and value-added graphics.

  • Knowledge of television programming and in production for news and information programs including a demonstrated ability to write, edit (desktop), vet and line-up.
  • Skilled in iNews, Dalet, Avid and DTV.
  • Experience using social media to research, develop and source stories; and as a breaking news tool.
  • Demonstrated attention to accuracy under time constraints required.
  • Chase guests for interviews under tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in graphic design/ editing would be an asset.
  • Experience in using smart boards or other smart screens would be an asset.
  • University degree or equivalent, with a minimum of two years in a similar position, preferred.
