The Valuation and Analytics team in Investment Risk Department (CIRVA) is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the fair valuation process of the corporation’s investment portfolio in coordination with the investment departments. The team is looking for an Associate Portfolio Officer to independently review and exercise control of valuation of IFC equity and quasi-equity instruments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business management (MBA), Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in investment analysis, equity valuation, private equity, or financial audit, with significant exposure to Infra, MAS or VC projects.
  • Solid understanding of fair value principles and valuation methodologies for private sector and illiquid investments, including income approach, market approach, precedent transactions, and capital structure analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across investment teams, industry specialists and other stakeholders.
  • Genuine commitment to international development and to the World Bank Group’s mission, strategy, and values.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with internal valuation application such as EPMS, and industry data platforms such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, or similar tools are preferred.
  • Experience in AI-enabled valuation tools is a plus.
  • Professional qualification such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, ASA, or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review valuation models from the investment team, focusing on equity investments across a diversified real sector portfolio and/or VC & Fintech portfolio.
  • Ensure the valuation model is in compliance with applicable IFC and industry valuation guidelines.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate valuation methodologies to the investment team, including discounted cash flow model, trading comparables, transaction comparables, recent transactions, and other market-based or income-based approaches, as relevant.
  • Assess the suitability of equity and options valuation methods based on company-specific circumstances, quality of information, and market conditions.
  • Review and challenge the investment team’s financial projections, discount rates, terminal value assumptions, liquidity discount, and other key valuation inputs.
  • Analyze valuation change drivers under the supervision of CIRVA Sector Team Lead.
  • Complete other ad hoc tasks assigned by CIRVA Manager or by Sector Team Lead.
