About The Position

The primary responsibility for the Associate Portfolio Manager (PM) position is to manage client portfolios in a prudent and diligent manner, following all applicable fiduciary standards, across both personal and institutional lines of business. This role supports our senior portfolio managers and portfolio management team. In addition, this position will be a member of the Trust Investment Committee, responsible for an established book of business, assist in business development, and communicate the WealthSouth investment philosophy externally with clients and internally with colleagues.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years+ of financial management experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Interest in pursuing further financial designations like CFA, CFP, or CPA.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Economics, Business, and Finance helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to understand and promote sales in the banking culture.

Nice To Haves

  • No official sales goals but encouraged to develop new business if in their skill set.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and maintain investment strategies/investment policies.
  • Member of the Trust Investment Committee, weekly economic calls, investment strategy, direction and research.
  • Responsible for a book of business across all WS markets.
  • Run, support and maintain investment and compliance reviews.
  • Provide research/analysis on client portfolios (Factset, Northern Trust, Morningstar, Fi360, etc.).
  • Work with team to develop new business by preparing investment management proposals.
  • Trade customized and modelled client portfolios in individual securities, mutual funds, and ETF’s.
  • Assists in communicating the investment philosophy/strategy to the market managers and wealth management division.
  • Research and select securities that are suitable for Wealth South clients.
  • Serves as an internal investment consultant for the Administrative Officer/Wealth Management Advisor.
  • Keeps current on all news relevant to fiduciary business as well as the market.
  • Reviews the buy list on a weekly basis and makes changes as needed.
  • Under direction of more senior PM’s, execute investment strategies within established investment policy guidelines.
  • Prepare investment policy statements and client presentations for portfolio manager team.
  • Performs job duties in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations including BSA.
  • Creates proposals/reviews for potential clients in all different Wealth South locations.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
