About The Position

NextEra Energy is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. Associate PGD Field Engineer shall be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the large scale universal solar and or battery facilities inside the state of Florida. This individual is responsible as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site/s are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs after which may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptions and modifications. Engineers on the FPL solar team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar and battery facilities. This also includes performing routine task such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis. At times, Associate PGD Field Engineer will be on-call and responsible for the Panhandle FL Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEM’s, Vendors and Contractors as required. Engineer should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 0+ years of experience.
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of large scale universal solar and/or battery facilities.
  • Serve as the site safety manager, ensuring personnel and equipment safety.
  • Ensure sites are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements.
  • Perform a variety of routine tasks providing experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgment for adaptations and modifications.
  • Spend significant time in the field troubleshooting and repairing solar and battery facilities.
  • Perform routine tasks such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis.
  • Be on-call for Panhandle FL Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, Vendors, and Contractors.
  • Complete assignments with clear and specific objectives requiring investigation of a limited number of variables.
  • Perform work involving conventional plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features and few precedents.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
