About The Position

Florida Power & Light is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. The Associate PGD Engineer shall be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of large-scale universal solar and/or battery facilities within the state of Florida. This individual is responsible as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site(s) are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs, after which they may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptations and modifications. Engineers on the FPL solar team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar facilities. This also includes performing routine tasks such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis. At times, the Associate PGD Engineer will be on-call and responsible for the West FL Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEMs, Vendors, and Contractors as required. The engineer should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is highly preferred. This entry-level role performs a variety of routine tasks that provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs, after which the individual may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptations and modifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's - Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 0+ years of experience
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes assignments that have clear and specific objectives which require the investigation of limited number of variables
  • Performs work involving conventional plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are few precedents
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
