About The Position

Wells Fargo is hiring an Associate Personal Banker (SAFE) for its National Branch. This frontline role builds customer relationships by supporting everyday banking needs through in-branch interactions, scheduled conversations, and proactive outreach. The banker learns about customers’ goals and connects them to banking products, services, and digital tools that help them manage their finances. The role supports account openings, service requests, and credit applications while collaborating with branch teammates to provide a consistent, high-quality customer experience. Success depends on relationship building, sound judgment, and balancing customer service with business growth. Wells Fargo provides training and coaching to support career growth and mobility. The position is located at 1300 SW 5th Ave, Portland, Oregon. The schedule includes Saturdays, and the role requires flexibility between cash handling and customer banking activities. SAFE registration is required at employment; Wells Fargo initiates the registration process after the employee’s start date. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience interacting with customers, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education, or a combination of these.
Ability to work a schedule that includes Saturdays.
SAFE registration is required at the time of employment; Wells Fargo will initiate the process after the start date.
Loan Originators must meet LO/CFPB requirements and comply with Wells Fargo policies, including standards related to financial responsibility, character, fitness, and criminal background.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in financial services or a highly regulated, customer-facing role, with comfort following structured processes and meeting accuracy and service expectations.
Experience building trust-based customer relationships through active listening, follow-up, and consistent engagement.
Comfort initiating outreach by calls, emails, or other channels to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities to support customer needs.
Comfort with digital tools and technology, ability to learn new systems quickly, and ability to guide customers in adopting relevant capabilities.

Responsibilities

Build lasting customer relationships through proactive conversations that support financial well-being and deepen engagement.
Lead discovery conversations to understand customer needs and connect them with relevant banking products, services, and solutions.
Identify opportunities, promote solutions, and make appropriate referrals to support branch growth and customer and business goals.
Support everyday banking needs, including new account openings, service requests, and credit applications.
Handle cash and perform teller-line activities, processing transactions accurately and maintaining compliance and operational standards.
Use and adopt digital tools and technologies to enhance the customer experience and support banking needs.
Deliver accurate, compliant service and exercise sound judgment within defined risk controls.
Coordinate with branch teammates to hand customers off to licensed bankers or specialists when appropriate.
Support branch operations by flexing between cash handling and customer banking activities, with an emphasis on account openings and ongoing account support.
Follow applicable risk and compliance programs, policies, and procedures; identify, escalate, and help remediate issues.
