About The Position

North Ridge Church (NRC) is seeking an Associate Pastor for Discipleship & Spiritual Formation. This role is crucial for developing the church's discipleship and spiritual formation culture. The pastor will act as a shepherd, architect, and connector, building relationships and pathways to help people grow into the likeness of Jesus. This position is intended for a man who is called and qualified to serve among the Elders of NRC. The Associate Pastor will fulfill various ministry responsibilities in cooperation with the Lead Pastor and other Elders, focusing on Discipleship, Spiritual Formation, and Pastoral Care. The role emphasizes direct, proactive, responsive, and prayerful care for people, with a foundation in personal dependence on the Holy Spirit, dedication to God's Word, devotion to marriage and family, attentiveness to those in need, and cultivation of spiritual health. The goal is to engage and equip others in ministry, with a vision for multiplication in making disciples. This is a full-time position requiring conduct and lifestyle consistent with biblical principles for elders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in ministry and/or biblical studies
  • 5 or more years' experience in full-time church ministry
  • Licensed or willing to pursue licensing/ordination with The Christian & Missionary Alliance
  • Demonstrated proficiency in pastoral care, visitation, prayer ministry, teaching, etc.
  • Effective interpersonal relational and communication ability
  • Proven experience leading and teaching small groups
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and to collaborate with a team
  • Submits to a thorough background check
  • Affirms and supports the mission, vision, and Statement of Faith of North Ridge Church and the Christian & Missionary Alliance
  • Must be a man, called and qualified accordingly to serve among the Elders of NRC.

Responsibilities

  • Shaping NRC's culture of discipleship and spiritual formation and the pathways for people to move into rooted, reproducing faith.
  • Investing intentionally in individuals through discipleship, mentoring, and praying relationships to develop their capacity to disciple others.
  • Evaluating existing discipleship offerings and developing a coherent pathway from first visit to committed, multiplying disciple.
  • Equipping and empowering others to shepherd people, building a disciple-making culture beyond staff capacity.
  • Actively leading a small group and potentially developing other small group leaders.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Pastor to develop clear on-ramps for new people to connect, grow, and find their place.
  • Faithfully teaching and preaching the Scriptures to individuals, groups, and the congregation.
  • Developing a proactive follow-up culture for welcoming visitors, reaching out to those who have drifted, and making benchmark moments in people's faith meaningful on-ramps into deeper community.
  • Ensuring every significant spiritual decision leads naturally to a clear next step.
  • Providing pastoral care and visitation, being present in vulnerable moments and proactive in ensuring no one walks through difficulty alone.
  • Collaborating with the Lead Pastor on hospital and home visits, regular check-ins with those unable to attend, and availability for prayer, counsel, and direction.
  • Mobilizing volunteers and lay leaders to extend the church's care reach.
  • Ensuring NRC's care infrastructure (Deacons, Deaconesses, Benevolent Fund, prayer ministry teams) is well-coordinated and operating with pastoral intentionality.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of trusted discipleship materials, small group resources, and crisis response tools.
  • Keeping a current referral network of Biblically-minded counselors, therapists, and recovery ministries.
  • Helping people discover their spiritual gifts and connecting them with opportunities to serve.
  • Performing additional administrative responsibilities as required for developing materials and resources.
  • Maintaining personal and relational integrity, with a life of genuine devotion, faithfulness in marriage and family, and purity in all relationships.
  • Embracing the covering and accountability of the Elders and pastoral staff.
  • Serving as a full member of the pastoral staff and governing board, partnering in the mission and leadership of North Ridge Church.
  • Developing into leadership as an Elder.
  • Maintaining honest, loyal, and loving relationships with the Lead Pastor and other Elders.
  • Contributing fully to the team's shared responsibility for prayer, vision, care, and the spiritual culture of the church.
  • Providing proactive communication on strategies, updates, and emergent situations.
