Associate or Full Professor – Chair of Department of Economics
About The Position
The University of Florida’s Department of Economics invites applications for a Department Chair. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-accruing faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The successful candidate will be eligible for tenure upon appointment, subject to the University’s approval process. The Chair appointment is expected to last three to five years, with the possibility of reappointment. The Chair will lead and oversee the Department’s academic, administrative, and financial operations. The role calls for a vision to advance research excellence, strengthen the national and international reputation of the doctoral program, and advocate effectively for strategic faculty growth. The candidate will foster research productivity, mentor early-career faculty, improve the Department’s external research reputation and rankings, and oversee academic programs, the budget, hiring, and faculty evaluation. The successful candidate will conduct independent research resulting in publication in leading peer-reviewed economics journals and teach effectively at undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates from all fields of economics are welcome. The Department has 22 faculty members and offers doctoral, master’s, undergraduate, and service-teaching programs.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field.
- Distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and service qualifying the candidate for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor in the Department of Economics.
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in higher education.
