About The Position

The Department of Advertising at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications invites applications for a full-time, nine-month scholar at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in Advertising. The department seeks to hire a scholar engaged in scholarly research and grant acquisitions in the areas of health communication, science communication, environmental communication, or risk communication, emphasizing the mediated or mass communication aspects of these specialties. The successful candidate will have a national or international reputation, an established research record with publications in top-tier journals, and success in securing extramural funding. They will also mentor junior faculty, contribute to departmental leadership, advance the research agenda, and foster collaborations across the college, university, and with other institutions. The ideal candidate will also bring extensive experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, especially doctoral students, on topics related to their expertise. Candidates should be able to teach undergraduate advertising courses and graduate-level mass communication courses, preferably demonstrating competency in core advertising major courses such as Principles of Advertising, Advertising Strategy, Copy and Visualization, Digital Insights, Media Planning, and Advertising Campaigns.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or on track to have one by October 15, 2026, in advertising, communication, marketing, information science, human-computer interaction, computer science, data analytics, or related field.
  • Achieved the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure.
  • Active record of published research and scholarship related to the field of Advertising or other areas of mediated health/science communications.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate advertising courses and graduate mass communication courses.
  • Successfully demonstrate funded partnerships with other scholars in the disciplines associated with communications or among disciplines outside of communications.
