About The Position

This role involves providing person-centred nursing and/or midwifery care while supporting the leadership and day-to-day operations of the ward, unit, or service. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will work closely with the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager to coordinate care delivery, support practice improvements, contribute to workforce management, and promote continuity and consistency of care. The position also entails providing clinical leadership, supporting the development of students and less experienced staff, and contributing to quality improvement, education, and service development initiatives to achieve positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post-registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and/or midwifery practice in accordance with professional standards.
  • Experience supervising students, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
