About The Position

The Associate Merchant supports category management by assisting with supplier negotiations, purchase order administration, and item setup for both stores and online channels. This role collaborates cross-functionally to enhance customer experience through accurate product content and effective communication programs. Utilizing data analysis and business insights, the Associate Merchant contributes to category strategy, budgeting, and promotional activities. The position requires strong vendor relationship management and a focus on operational excellence to drive sales performance while maintaining compliance with company policies and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Proven experience in vendor relationship management and supplier negotiations within retail or e-commerce environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data analysis and visualization tools to inform business decisions.
  • Expertise in category strategy, product assortment, and modular merchandising principles to optimize sales performance.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally and support supplier issue resolution.
  • Ability to manage purchase orders, support item setup, and maintain pricing and promotional activities.
  • Demonstrated capability in budgeting, forecasting, and tracking category financial performance.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and delivering customer-focused solutions.
  • 2 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Support merchants in supplier negotiations and manage purchase orders for assigned categories.
  • Assist in resolving supplier issues and facilitate new supplier setups for stores and online channels.
  • Own execution of customer communication and education programs, ensuring accurate product page content and search query management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement category features, modular layouts, and promotional strategies.
  • Analyze sales and category performance data to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Guide suppliers in developing customer-focused processes and products aligned with business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement by leveraging data insights and supporting technology adoption within scope.
