Associate Merchant - Seasonal
About The Position
As an Associate Merchant at Walmart, you will support category management through supplier negotiations, purchase order administration, and item setup for stores and online channels. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the customer experience through accurate product content and promotional strategies. Using data analysis and market insights, you will contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and assortment planning. The role calls for vendor relationship management and business acumen to support category performance while upholding Walmart’s standards of integrity, operational excellence, and customer focus. The team is focused on making Walmart a leading destination for Harvest and Halloween products through curated assortments, trend-aligned solutions, and value. Team members work with suppliers and internal partners on category strategy, supplier relationships, product assortment, and execution across stores and online channels. They use data and market insights to improve customer experience and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or a related area.
- Experience in vendor relationship management and supplier negotiations within retail or e-commerce environments.
- Skills in category strategy development, product assortment, and modular assortment implementation.
- Proficiency in data analysis and business analysis to support forecasting, budgeting, and sales performance evaluation.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally and resolve supplier or category issues.
- Knowledge of e-commerce management and customer behavior insights to enhance the omni-channel customer experience.
- Ability to manage item setup, pricing recommendations, and promotional feature execution aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities

- Assist in resolving supplier issues and facilitate setup of new suppliers for stores and online channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement category features, modular layouts, and promotional strategies.
- Analyze sales data and support forecasting, budgeting, and financial tracking for assigned categories.
- Provide execution direction on item setup, pricing, and assortment to optimize customer experience and business results.
- Use data tools to generate insights and support technology adoption within the scope of work.
