About The Position

As an Associate Merchant, you will play a key role in supporting sales growth, inventory productivity, and ecommerce execution through merchandising strategy, financial analysis, and operational management. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, organized, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced ecommerce environment and enjoys working with both product and data. You will partner cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, Ecommerce, Operations, and Vendor partners to support category growth, optimize inventory, and deliver a strong customer experience across our digital Shopify site.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, Retail Management, Analytics, or related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in merchandising, ecommerce, buying, or retail analytics
• Ecommerce experience required; Shopify experience strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills required: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Large dataset management and reporting
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Highly trainable with the ability to quickly learn systems and processes
• Experience with retail systems and inventory platforms preferred

Responsibilities

• Support and help build merchandising strategies aligned with sales and profitability goals
• Analyze sales performance by vendor, category, style, and SKU to identify opportunities and risks and make appropriate business recommendations
• Assist with assortment planning, product selection, and identifying category whitespace
• Optimize product presentation and collection merchandising on the Bare Necessities Shopify site as well as other marketplace channels.
• Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
• Support sales, inventory, and gross margin forecasting
• Maintain reporting tools and dashboards to support business decisions
• Analyze sell-through, inventory productivity, replenishment, and profitability metrics
• Support Open-to-Buy (OTB) processes, receipt flow/recaps and weekly business reporting
• Utilize advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and large dataset analysis
• Manage purchase order tracking, maintenance, and reconciliation
• Support replenishment strategies based on sales trends and inventory flow
• Assist with product lifecycle management including launches, markdowns, and exit strategies
• Maintain accurate product setup and SKU-level data across systems and site
• Partner cross-functionally to resolve inventory, PO, and shipment discrepancies
• Support promotional campaigns, featured product assortments, and site stories
• Partner with Marketing and Ecommerce teams to align promotions with inventory and profitability goals
• Build strong relationships with both external vendors as well as internal business partners
• Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies
