About The Position

Responsible for globally sourcing, purchasing and developing globally sourced merchandise for a specific department. This role involves identifying and qualifying international vendors to The Home Depot standards, developing and purchasing products, and creating materials to sell these products, such as packaging, P.K. materials, and P.O.P. The Associate Merchant will understand the impacts of products on sales and GMROI, create specifications for products including packaging, safety, and environmental issues, and understand the supply chain, both domestic and international. The role also includes conducting presentations at product line reviews and marketing meetings.

Requirements

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
• Marketing background.
• Retail Merchandising background.
• Product knowledge category background in manufacturing and industry practices.

Nice To Haves

• High level of comfort with strong negotiations skills and communication skills.
• Extensive travel - international and domestic.
• International experience 3-5 years.
