An Associate Merchant is responsible for helping to manage the execution of seasonal assortments, acting as point person for cross-functional business partners in production, marketing, design, allocation, and planning. They help to drive strategy for the categories they are managing. This role involves building an on-trend Omni assortment with channel-specific strategies in mind, initiating market/competitor analysis, and staying on top of industry trends. The Associate Merchant will communicate changes to all cross-functional partners, participate in store visits, and prepare/analyze Omni selling recaps to drive the business. They will make recommendations on how to optimize current sales and affect future plans, partner with planning in pre-season to plan and buy their department based on comprehensive analysis, and participate in inventory management and control with planning and distribution teams. Additionally, they will contribute to pricing and profit strategies, making promotional and markdown suggestions to drive profitable gross margin results, and review new receipts against business trends to maximize sales and stock.
