About The Position

The Medical Director is a senior level administrative position with responsibility for all medical services at the assigned CVCH site. This responsibility includes the authority to oversee all aspects of healthcare delivery, regulatory compliance, quality, efficiency, and the supervision of assigned medical providers. This is a full-time position, currently 0.2 FTE Medical Director and 0.8 FTE Family Medicine Physician, as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Participates in shared call system with other providers as assigned. The Medical Director is directly accountable to Chief Medical Officer.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited medical school and must have completed a residency program.
  • Must be a board-certified primary care physician.
  • Must possess current, valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Washington.
  • Must have a valid DEA license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required. ACLS or ATLS may be used to substitute for BLS.
  • All Providers must be eligible for enrollment in Medicare and must not be currently opted out of the Medicare program.
  • Must possess experience in a leadership role which demonstrates administrative responsibilities in a progressive health care facility and includes personnel management, fiscal controls, health planning, and other related activities.
  • English fluency required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.

Nice To Haves

  • Management experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a community health center or managed care environment preferred.
  • Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • English and Spanish fluency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the CMO to formulate, implement, and supervise the Center’s Health Care Plan, which is reviewed annually and modified as necessary.
  • Participate in the reviews of applications, interviews, and make recommendations to the CMO of potential medical staff members.
  • Evaluate assigned Physicians, Physician Assistants (PA), and Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP), providing ongoing feedback during quarterly rounding and via scorecard metrics.
  • Chair provider meetings to keep medical staff apprised of current corporate goals and objectives related to patient health management and encourage patterns of care directed toward accomplishment of these goals and objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal practice guidelines, and local standards of care.
  • Assure continued medical education, skills, and training for all medical staff are maintained as required to ensure high levels of professional competency.
  • Stimulate collegiality among medical staff to cultivate cooperative allegiance and maximize team cohesion.
  • Provide leadership to the health care team in their pursuit of operating an efficient self-sustaining department.
  • Set an example to peers and subordinates by demonstrating exemplary ethics and clinical practice.
  • Serve as a preceptor to healthcare professionals in training, PAs and FNPs, as needed.
  • Maintain a liaison relationship assuring communication between the medical staff and the administrator of the local hospital, inclusive of the hospital’s Board of Directors.
  • Maintain professional relationships with medical providers in the community.
  • Participate in external medical, civil, and community activities that may positively influence the clinic’s operation and the health of citizens in the CVCH service area when requested.
  • Advise the CMO in the deployment of personnel on the health care team to maximize the skills and knowledge of all individuals.
  • Use prudently the delegatory powers in dispersing work and responsibilities as appropriate in fulfilling the mission of the organization.
  • In partnership with the dyad partner clinic manager, review, formulate, and implement specific operational protocols for the Center.
  • Monitor and intervene appropriately in clinical management areas.
  • Participate in Leadership Team meetings and activities.
  • Work closely with the dyad partner clinic manager on short- and long-term operational issues and concerns.
  • Participate in CVCH strategic planning activities as requested.
  • Partner with the dyad partner clinic manager to understand, develop, implement, and track the departmental budget.
  • Maintain a full patient load in accordance with FTE allotment.
  • Remain in good standing with local and state professional affiliations.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Start shift on time and meet attendance standards per the FTE assigned in HRIS system.
  • Follow safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Uphold CVCH’s mission and core values in all interactions.
  • Comply with CVCH policies, Joint Commission standards, and HIPPA regulations.
  • Run ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Participate in internal committees or special projects.
