The Associate Medical Director has similar job duties as a Physician, focusing on outpatient medicine, continuity of care, health maintenance, and disease prevention. The Associate Medical Director is also responsible for administrative oversight and outcomes for clinical providers designated to their area. They keep a medical history and medical records, and refer patients to specialists as needed. Decisions are typically related to identifying and resolving complex technical and operational problems within clinics/centers. The Associate Medical Director will spend 20-30% of their time clinically focused on direct patient care, with the remaining time dedicated to administrative duties related to oversight of clinical provision of care in their area. This role requires a solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across multiple clinics/centers. The Associate Medical Director will supervise/manage assigned clinicians designated to a market. Clinician’s PTO management will be handled in collaboration with the Center administrator, including holiday schedules and as determined by the organization. Management of CME time and reimbursement requests, service recovery reports (Patient complaints), and guidance to individual clinicians about patient terminations (in collaboration with compliance) are also key responsibilities. The role involves managing behavioral concerns pertaining to assigned clinicians, providing support to on-site clinicians with logjams and workflow issues, and overseeing provider quality and developing workflows to help close gaps in quality. A minimum of one half-day per week at a clinic site for onsite visits is required. Support for clinicians with schedule templates, coverage, and daily issues, as well as assistance with panel management and oversight of the quality of assigned team members, are expected. The Associate Medical Director will meet with Regional CAs and other AMDs at least monthly and may be assigned to organizational committees as needed to represent the clinical perspective of the market. Assistance in ongoing chart review monitoring and recruitment/interviewing as requested is also part of the role. In collaboration with the RMD, performance reviews will be completed as required. Participation as backup on call and assistance in organizing team building activities are also expected. The Associate Medical Director will maintain regular clinic hours for a percentage of FTE as determined with the Regional Medical Director, as detailed on the clinical job description. They will also serve as a community representative for CenterWell in media and press activities.
