About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an Associate Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineer to join the Ground Support Mechanical Design Team in Berkeley, Mo. This team is responsible for designing and developing mechanical military support equipment. The role involves using provided strength input and guidance for analysis to enhance the mechanical design of support equipment. Additionally, the team will incorporate drawing changes and collaborate with suppliers for hardware delivery. This position will primarily support various military aircraft platforms including F-15, F/A-18, T-7, B-52, MQ-25, AAS, and others. Occasional travel to suppliers may be necessary for witnessing acceptance tests or discussing fabrication and design issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 1+ years’ experience as a design engineer
  • 1+ years’ experience developing 3D CAD models and/or drawings
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Siemens NX 3D modeling and drawing software
  • General familiarity with mechanical support equipment
  • General knowledge of fabrication methods for mechanical hardware, such as machining, welding, processing and assembly
  • Familiarity with mechanical and strength analysis

  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed

Responsibilities

  • Supports proposal preparation and new business development efforts
  • Make engineering design recommendations based on analysis, loads, material properties, configurations, safety factors, etc
  • Support internal, informal peer reviews and formal design reviews as needed
  • Evaluate supplier hardware non-conformances and material substitutions
  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems
  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers/suppliers
  • Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid systems
  • Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems
  • Works under general supervision
  • Performs other duties as assigned
