About The Position

The Associate Mechanical Engineer, Actuators will own detailed mechanical design of rotary and linear actuators, including eMachines, speed-sensing and interconnect assemblies, gearboxes, and housings, from concept through production. The role drives development of technologies such as sensing, eMachines, and electromechanical gear systems, with a strong focus on manufacturing and assembly at production rates. It also evaluates application-specific cooling solutions, develops durability test profiles using vehicle usage data, and contributes to continuous improvement in processes, efficiency, and data analysis. The position is anticipated to be based in Long Beach, California, beginning in late 2027. U.S. Person status is required because the role needs access to export-controlled data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 1–4 years of relevant experience.
  • Owned mechanical design of at least one actuator from clean-sheet design through production.
  • Experience designing and analyzing geared actuation systems with rotary and linear gear reduction mechanisms.
  • Experience designing mechanical parts in NX or SolidWorks.
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods such as casting, machining, hobbing, grinding, and additive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in mechanical drawings and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Experience procuring parts and working in a machine shop.
  • Working knowledge of machine and shop safety protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • U.S. Person status, because the position requires access to export-controlled data.
