About The Position

PACCAR is seeking an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Core Suspension group. This role will participate in the design and development of heavy-duty truck suspensions. The engineer will manage suspension-related projects from start to finish, covering areas such as front and rear suspensions, axles, brakes, outer-ends, power steering, fifth wheels, end-of-frame, tires, and wheels. Responsibilities include completing work related to Requests for Engineering Information (REIs), regulation changes, Plant Liaison Requests (PLRs), field service, and OAR support. The position offers an opportunity to gain broad knowledge in the project release process by collaborating with internal and external organizations. The engineer will utilize Creo for creating optimized parts and assemblies of complex designs and work with stakeholders to validate these designs. The role involves working through the Product Creation Process, managing projects and reporting updates using Tollgate, and applying Six Sigma skills regularly.

Requirements

  • BSME required
  • Proficiency using Creo or other solids modeling software preferred
  • Past experience working onsite at a PACCAR facility preferred
  • Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets
  • Familiarity with project management methods and tools
  • Candidate should be willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems
  • Requires independent judgment and effective project management
  • Ability to manage costs, time and resources; strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in business or engineering and P.E. certificate preferred
  • 0-1 years of experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and development of heavy-duty truck suspensions within the Core Suspension group.
  • Manage suspension-related projects “cradle-to-grave” for areas of the truck including front and rear suspensions, axles, brakes, outer-ends, power steering, fifth wheels, end-of-frame, tires and wheels.
  • Complete work related to Requests for Engineering Information (REIs), regulation changes, Plant Liaison Requests (PLRs), field service, and OAR support.
  • Gain and breadth of knowledge in the project release process by working with internal and external organizations.
  • Utilize Creo to create optimized parts and assemblies of complex designs.
  • Work with internal and external organizations to validate the designs.
  • Work through the Product Creation Process utilizing Tollgate to manage projects and report updates, and put Six Sigma skills to use regularly.
