About The Position

Kenworth Division of PACCAR has an immediate opening for a Associate Mechanical Design Engineer - Cost Reduction to join our team on-site in Kirkland, WA. Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of The World’s Best® heavy and medium duty trucks and is an industry leader in providing fuel-saving technology solutions that help increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing commercial truck design improvements utilizing a variety of fabrication methods including forming, casting, and injection molding while being cost effective. The engineer will utilize Creo Parametric® to create assemblies that meet structural, ergonomic, aesthetic, and quality goals, and work through the Product Creation Process utilizing Tollgate to manage projects, report updates, and learn and use Six Sigma skills regularly. The position requires learning and making use of PACCAR and industry systems to manage implementation of product changes by tracking status of project schedule, budget, and functional requirements, and working with internal and external organizations to validate designs. Collaboration with multiple PACCAR divisions, managing multiple priorities and goals simultaneously, and applying creativity to design tasks and proposing innovative approaches to standard work are key aspects of this role. Up to 10% travel is expected.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
0-1+ years of experience required
Proficiency using Creo Parametric or other CAD solid modeling software preferred.
Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets are desired
Candidate should be willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems
Requires independent judgment and effective project management.
Ability to manage costs, time and resources; strong self-motivation.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and implement commercial truck design improvements utilizing a variety of fabrication methods including forming, casting, and injection molding while being cost effective.
