As a Mechanical Engineer - Cost & Design Improvements in Faribault, MN, you will drive cost savings, margin improvement, and mechanical design enhancements across product lines. You will perform mechanical design, modeling, and analysis for new and existing components and assemblies. You will support RDE initiatives, including concept development, prototyping, and early‑stage mechanical design work. You will contribute to sustaining engineering activities, including cost‑reduction projects and engineering change requests (ECRs). You will collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement design improvements and resolve mechanical issues. You will work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners. You will contribute to projects that impact communities in Northfield, Owatonna, Dundas, Medford, Lakeville, Farmington, Waseca, and Lonsdale, and the greater southern Twin Cities metro. You will apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a mechanical engineer
  • Experience with mechanical design, modeling, and documentation
  • Familiarity with sustaining engineering, cost‑reduction initiatives, and ECR processes
  • Ability to identify and execute mechanical design improvements supporting cost, quality, and performance goals
  • Strong analytical skills and mechanical problem‑solving abilities
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member
  • Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset
  • Curiosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking
  • Effective verbal and written communication
