About The Position

We are seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial Associate Market Clinical Director to join our rapidly expanding team. This role directly supervises, performance manages, and trains Clinical Directors within an assigned market. The incumbent is accountable for center performance objectives, P&L, growth, and culture. In addition to being accountable for the overall clinical outcomes of the assigned market, they will dedicate a portion of their time to direct patient care as a PCP and/or other clinical duties. The remainder of their time will be allocated to leadership responsibilities, including Clinical Director performance, engagement, and building strong clinical-operations synergy and culture. The time allocation is dependent on PCP capacity, market needs, center size, patient membership, and Regional President direction.

Requirements

  • MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialty required.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience required; 3 years preferred.
  • Strongly prefer one (1) years’ previous experience as Medical Director or equivalent with a Medicare or Medicaid patient population.
  • Board eligibility is required.
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar is preferred, but hires may have other sub-specialty training and board certification.
  • Current, active license to practice medicine in State of employment.
  • High performing physician with a proven track record of clinical leadership experience.
  • Must have completed all internal physician training and have attained partnership.
  • Experience with population risk management or complex chronic disease care management.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams in quality improvement and/or medical/healthcare leadership activities preferred.
  • Excellent clinical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in a managed care delivery system.
  • Knowledge of clinical outcomes and quality improvement processes.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with external organizations.
  • Conflict management and resolution skills.
  • Familiar with, if not proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Comfortable with the electronic medical record (EMR) and facile with keyboarding.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally up to 30% of the time.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred to be an existing high performing PCP partner and/or Medical Director within the ChenMed core model, with a proven ability to manage a panel of >400 patients with outstanding clinical, customer service and cost outcomes.
  • Preferred to have been with the organization >2 years, be a recognized leader amongst peers, and can lead teams in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • If specialty, has demonstrated leadership within his/her specialty and delivered superior outcomes, with a proven ability to deliver primary care in our model.

Responsibilities

  • Direct accountability for clinical outcomes and day-to-day management of Medical Directors in multiple centers within the assigned market, with regular presence in the centers under direct management, and under the supervision of the Regional President.
  • Ensure successful clinical operations and meeting/exceeding plan market earnings.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach Medical Directors in the assigned market to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes.
  • Oversee and facilitate talent development of PCPs, NPs, and Medical Directors in centers, including leading facilitated practice, conducting 1:1s, executing leadership development plans, and performance management.
  • Cultivate a center-level physician culture aligned with ChenMed's core model, values, behaviors, and service standards.
  • Assist the Clinical COE in training new practitioners within the assigned centers.
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing PCP and specialist candidates.
  • Partner with Clinical COE and Talent Acquisition to support the clinical talent lifecycle, including hiring, managing, and mentoring physicians, and role-modeling exemplary clinical leadership.
  • Establish and support the development of successful relationships with payers, specialists, the community, and hospitals, and drive a social media presence locally.
  • Monitor and support overall market culture, responding with urgency to workplace concerns.
  • Review and approve center-level referrals and provide back-up for market referral and delegated utilization authorizations.
  • Assist the Regional President with market quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee monthly scorecard reviews and, in conjunction with Clinical Leadership, deliver quarterly clinical metric analysis.
  • Provide training to other ChenMed entities as needed.
  • Develop deep relationships with providers and key stakeholders in the market.
  • Use understanding of local market dynamics to drive clinical initiatives.
  • Build clinical credibility and trust to deepen relationships.
  • Assist with the implementation of cost reduction and market clinical strategies.
  • Deliver outstanding clinical outcomes and service to patient panel as a PCP (20%).
  • Perform other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.
