About The Position

The Leonardo DRS Land Systems business is a recognized leader in the design and integration of complex technologies into new and legacy systems and platforms for global military and commercial customers. We are a 5 year running Top Workplace in the Greater St. Louis area. This role involves performing electro-mechanical assembly, disassembly, and rework, along with some testing and repair of various electronic products and mechanical assemblies. The technician will work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and sketches. They will provide routine technical support to engineers and scientists on standard components, devices, materials, products, processes, and equipment. Responsibilities may include testing, modifying, reworking, repairing, and building electronic, optical, or mechanical assemblies. The role also involves designing and/or testing prototype assemblies and production units, performing related manufacturing processes, and interpreting and following documents such as SOPs and safety rules. Ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements is crucial. The technician will interface with other departments to ensure efficient flow of information and materials and will be responsible for meeting Key Performance Indicators such as production deadlines, quality of finished product, raw material stock levels, and compliance outcomes. The position requires the ability to coordinate multiple activities, reprioritize tasks based on changing operational conditions, and interpret or develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications. The technician will also support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Experienced handling small delicate components, using ESD practices.
  • Must be experienced in the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, and Labview.
  • Must have good hand and eye coordination.

Nice To Haves

  • Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.
  • Experience with MRP a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly, disassembly and rework.
  • Some test and repair of various electronic products and mechanical assemblies.
  • Work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches and running sheets of significant complexity.
  • Provide routine technical support to engineers and scientists on standard components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment.
  • Responsibilities may include testing, modifying, reworking, repairing, and building electronic, optical or mechanical assemblies.
  • Work from standard wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches.
  • Design and/or test prototype assemblies and production units.
  • Capable of performing related manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret and follow documents such as SOPs and safety rules.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with State and Federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification.
  • Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials.
  • Meet production deadlines.
  • Ensure quality of finished product (Pass/fail rates).
  • Manage raw material stock levels.
  • Achieve compliance outcomes.
  • Coordinate several activities at the same time, and to reprioritize in response to changing operational conditions.
  • Read, and possibly develop, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion, and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
