About The Position

L3Harris is seeking an agile, organized, result oriented Associate Manager, Quality & Mission Assurance to work at our Orange, VA location. Our site near Culpeper, VA , in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years prior relevant Quality experience.
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel to other L3Harris and customer sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of common quality standards (AS9100 or ISO-9001) and typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, fabrication, material forming, product assembly, Foreign Object prevention, MRB, Quality Requirements Engineering (QRE), etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership of continuous improvement tools (e.g. Lean, 6S, root cause analysis, process mapping) required.
  • Advanced degree in Business or Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience developing new products in a multi-functional team environment strongly desired.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills, and an ability to mentor and increase the effectiveness and productivity of employees.
  • Experience partnering with other business organizations including Finance, Engineering, Program Management and Operations strongly desired.
  • Experience in functional management with proven leadership in Quality Assurance or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Quality Engineering group.
  • Providing technical direction to employees, assigning Quality Engineers to support programs, interface with other Aerojet Rocketdyne departments, establish work priorities and assign personnel to meet those requirements.
  • Maintain department's fiscal expectations, utilization and commitments by working closely with internal customers and participating in meetings where decisions and planning / program support work scheduling occurs.
  • Accountable for personnel performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and support Quality Engineers as required.
  • Ensure current quality flow-down requirements are provided to Suppliers, internal manufacturing, Quality Engineers and other functional organizations through the interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements.
  • Accountable for problem resolutions including the initiation and closure of root cause and corrective/preventative action.
  • Support proposal activities as requested.
  • Support, deploy, lead the Quality Engineering organization using the E3 (Business Operating System) tools as the foundational structure.
  • Lead / participate in continuous improvement projects and innovative initiatives that drive improvement in key processes as measured through performance metrics.
  • Respond to negative trends in performance data through the use of continuous improvement tools.
  • Drive the use of process variation reduction activities.
  • Support all program proposals with functional requirements, manpower requirements and risk assessments: Manage quality program and overhead budgets within 5% of latest approved budget, EAC or ETC.
