About The Position

The Associate Health and Wellness Manager is a leadership role for an experienced nurse, offering the opportunity to work the floor and learn to manage staff under the Health and Wellness Manager. This role involves making a positive impact on the lives of residents and their families, taking clinical careers to new heights. The Associate Health and Wellness Manager plays a pivotal role in retirement residences, encompassing both clinical leadership and administrative management. Key responsibilities include supervising and guiding the daily operations of the nursing department, participating in Care Conferences, engaging with residents and families to address issues, and sharing responsibility for recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating clinical team members. This role also involves applying the disciplinary process in conjunction with the Health and Wellness Manager and Executive Director, and overseeing compliance of resident care staff with company policies, safety regulations, and proper work practices, while adhering to relevant provincial and federal acts and regulations.

Requirements

Currently registered as a Registered Practical Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse from the applicable provincial professional regulatory body with competency to perform skills within their scope of practice.
Minimum of three (3) years relevant clinical experience, preferably in a retirement residence.
Experience with developing service plans for the best quality of care to our residents.
Up-to-date knowledge of regulations, acts, program standards, and other pertinent provincial legislation.
Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) within the last six months or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Supervising and guiding the daily operations of the nursing department.
Actively participates in Care Conferences.
Engages with residents and their families to address issues and concerns.
Shares the responsibility for recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating clinical team members.
Applies the disciplinary process in conjunction with the Health and Wellness Manager and Executive Director.
Oversees and assesses compliance of resident care staff with company policies, safety regulations, and proper work practices.
Adheres to relevant provincial and federal acts and regulations, such as the Health Disciplines Act, Human Rights Code, and College of Nurses Standards.
