This job offers variety, involving work orders related to all trades. Duties may include preventative maintenance, bed repair, changing out lights, or unclogging drains. The role is responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks completed under supervision in a safe, professional manner. Extra precautions must be taken when working in patient/resident care areas, specifically keeping tools out of the reach of children. The position requires basic mechanical knowledge and competence in the use of hand tools, meters, and gauges. Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals is helpful. The ability to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting is necessary. The role requires the ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled and to comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code. Understanding written and verbal communications is essential. The position involves working independently with minimal supervision and requires knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances. Depending on facility size, additional duties may include performing installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment; maintaining campus grounds and performing other outside maintenance duties; performing general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance. On-call duties may be required as needed or directed by the department.
