About The Position
As an Associate Legal News Editor, you will monitor and identify important legal developments and write news articles for daily news production. You will help set direction and provide tactical guidance when needed. Seeking continual improvement of publication content, you will help your team meet their performance goals. This role can be performed anywhere within the United States.
Requirements
- Possess hard news reporting experience and excellent news judgment
- Have a Bachelor's degree in journalism/communications (relevant experience considered without a degree)
- Have the ability to multitask and reprioritize throughout the day
- Have the ability to understand and explain complex legal topics
- Be a skilled and speedy news writer
- Have the ability to network with attorney sources, use online and other resources to gather information
- Possess excellent interviewing skills
- Be able to work Eastern time zone hours
- Have the ability to work independently
Responsibilities
- Gathering news and identifying relevant official documents regarding events and developments in the assigned practice areas
- Selecting which developments to report
- Digesting and providing explanation on court opinions and other litigation-related documents following guidance provided by manager
- Writing news articles for daily upload to website and inclusion in print publications
- Meeting all deadlines while producing publications in a timely manner
- Reviewing all available analytics of web-based usage of content to help drive content focus
