About The Position

The University of the Built Environment is recruiting markers for modules in quantity surveying, valuation and investment, and construction management. Successful applicants join the Associate Lecturer pool, but work is not guaranteed and is offered as it becomes available. Applicants may decline assignments. Accepted work must be completed personally and is paid through the University’s payroll system. Marking assignments are on a casual worker basis, with hours varying according to role and submission dates. The work is performed entirely from home within the UK, provided the home environment is suitable. Working within a module team and under the Module Leader’s guidance, markers provide timely, effective and supportive feedback on student assessments using the approved Assessment Feedback Template. All assessments are marked online. The role has no line-management or budget responsibilities and involves liaison with the Module Leader, Academic Operations Team, Assessment Team, Core Services Team and other University teams. The University pays a per-script fee based on word count: £12 for scripts of 999 words or fewer, £17 for 1,000–2,999 words, £20 for 3,000–4,999 words, and £27 for scripts over 5,000 words. Training is paid in addition. Holiday pay is added to earnings at 12.07% through the payroll system. Holiday cannot be taken during a work assignment.
