About The Position

The Associate Lead Publishing Project Specialist's primary function is to oversee the print buying processes and purchases from 3rd party vendors to facilitate the production of Our Sunday Visitor’s products and promotional material. The incumbent has an indirect input into the scheduling and coordination of the internal workflow at Our Sunday Visitor. This role involves specifying, quoting, selecting, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of production for products, promotions, and office supplies for the Publishing Division, as well as overseeing all production aspects for the Our Sunday Visitor Curriculum Division products. The position requires monitoring and reviewing all production processes for opportunities to increase efficiency and/or cost savings, and staying informed about new production and technological advancements in the marketplace for publishing applications. The role also includes coordinating with OSV’s Postal Manager to ensure postal compliance, deliverability of product, and maximum postage savings, as well as consulting and advising marketing and editorial departments in developing new products. The incumbent will track and monitor production costs, provide production budgets and scheduling for new products, and review all jobs at design, print/duplication, and finishing stages for quality and reproducibility. Developing and maintaining alternative plans for production in case of emergencies and maintaining relationships with multiple vendors capable of producing each job are also key responsibilities. The role requires quoting each new job with a minimum of three qualified vendors and repeating this competitive quoting process at least once a year. The incumbent will coordinate and facilitate the actual print publishing process while working with both internal teams and external vendors. Travel may be required numerous times per year. Requirements

  • Advanced overall knowledge of printing processes is required.
  • Must have previous experience working with different shipping companies and have an in depth knowledge of policies and procedures with different shipping companies.
  • Incumbent should have experience in the customer service, estimating field, or similar (5+ years).
  • Incumbent must have a firm grasp on publishing production processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with teams of editors, designers, and a multitude of other individuals.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Skills with human relations are important.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Time management skills are important.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in Printing Processes would be beneficial to the incumbent.
  • Incumbent will be expected to visit the production floor to evaluate the printing processes.

Responsibilities
