About The Position

We are seeking a talented and passionate Java Developer to join our Operations Workbench Scrum team. You will be a key contributor to the development of our new, cutting-edge Operations Workbench platform. You will apply your deep technical expertise to build and implement robust solutions, while promoting engineering best practices. This role is for an experienced developer who is passionate about hands-on implementation and collaboration. You will be a core member of the team, delivering high-quality, scalable solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in the financial services sector.
  • Familiarity with working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Proficiency in Java development.
  • Experience developing and maintaining enterprise-level applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Apache Kafka.
  • Basic understanding of database design and development on an RDBMS platform.
  • Familiarity with API development and application security concepts.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A strong passion for learning new technologies and adopting best practices.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a desire to contribute to a team.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to ask questions and seek out answers.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong integrity and judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Distributed Caching technologies (e.g., Redis, Gemfire).
  • Exposure to Capital Markets or Finance.
  • Familiarity with modern UI development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
  • Promote best practices for engineering excellence in coding, testing, build, deployment, and the maintenance of high-quality software.
  • Act as an active contributor to design and a hands-on implementer of code.
  • Actively participate in scrum activities such as sprint planning and refinement, offering technical insights for backlog items.
  • Deliver robust and efficient technical solutions, adhering to best-in-class engineering principles and practices.
  • Partner with the Scrum Master, Product Owner, QA, Architects and other global team members to successfully deliver technical solutions and reusable components.
  • Work with Business, Operations, and Production Support stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Keep up with the latest development practices in the industry and Citi with an eye to implement them in our team such as – Gen AI, DORA metrics, etc.
