About The Position

Labcorp is seeking an Associate IT Project Manager to join our Labcorp team in Durham, North Carolina. Work Schedule: This is a full‑time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible. Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility. The Technical Project Specialist will play a key role in leading and executing assigned IT projects. This position requires a solid understanding of project scope, objectives, and team member responsibilities in order to effectively coordinate activities across project teams. As an Associate IT Project Manager, you will manage project execution, performance, and delivery throughout the full project management lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Previous and/or active Labcorp Internship
  • 0-2 years in Information Technology industry

Nice To Haves

  • 3–6 months in various roles on project teams
  • 3–6 months managing small projects or specific phases of larger initiatives.
  • 3-6 months experience creating and maintaining detailed project plans, including work breakdown structures, role assignments, and estimates.
  • 3-6 months delivering full project scope on time, within budget, and aligned to quality standards.
  • 3-6 months experience tracking and analyzing project budgets, expenditures, and forecasts, ensuring transparency and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage IT enterprise-class projects including application development, infrastructure, facilities, and/or Commercial Off-the-Shelf implementation projects of the following profile:
  • Teams up to nine members
  • Duration under one year
  • Limited geographic impact
  • One vendor partnership
  • Moderately aggressive timelines
  • Existing/proven technologies
  • Support larger initiatives by managing individual work streams and/or phases in partnership with a Senior IT Project Manager.
  • Partner with resource managers to secure and manage staffing needs across projects.
  • Monitor and drive timely execution of project tasks to achieve goals.
  • Manage project changes (scope, schedule, costs) using integrated change control processes.
  • Facilitate project kick-off meetings, ensuring stakeholder alignment and shared understanding.
  • Monitor and report project performance metrics, highlighting risks, variances, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement project communication plans to engage stakeholders and team members.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while documenting assumptions and constraints.
  • Foster team collaboration, respect, and accountability to drive successful outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly across audiences — verbally, in writing, and visually.
  • Demonstrate integrity, inspire trust, and encourage recognition of team achievements.
